Back to carlton ware 2005

Lustre Pottery (est.1973) licensed Carlton Ware to make its designs from 1973 to 1983, Walking Ware was the most prolific and most popular. One of the contractual agreements between Carlton Ware and Lustre Pottery was that on expiry of the contract, all copyrights in any jointly-developed trade names would automatically revert to Lustre Pottery.

On the liquidation of Carlton Ware in 1983, a further clause in the same contract served to reinforce Carlton Ware Lustre Pottery trademark ownership.

It is in this limilted form only that Lustre Pottery is entitled to the Carlton Ware name. No other Carlton Ware trade mark except the three that were jointly-developed then, two of which were used for a short while only, can be claimed. Additionally, these trademarks cannot be altered or re-developed in any way. Additionally, no one else is entitled to use them.

Lustre Pottery intend to use this trademark in a limited way to make certain distinctions between the aspirations of the pots that they will now be producing. The dates will be clearly marked to avoid any possible confusion with past designs or marks and there will be no repetition of old designs although Lustre retains copyright in all these.

Below are pictures of the Carlton Ware Lustre Pottery trademarks from 1973 to 2005. If you would like any further information on trademarks, copyright or designs please email Julia at enquiries@rogermichell.co.uk
