About
Artonic
Artonic
was formed from the work of Roger Michell, both a practising ceramacist
and painter he was asked to form arts projects for Cornwall’s three
new Private Finance Initiative hospitals. Previously he had carried out
an acclaimed commission for The New Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Working closely with Artists, Craftspeople and Designers an approach was
formed for art in healthcare buildings.
Artonic encompasses this creative spirit, forming a loosely structured
and experienced group, welcoming new talent with each new project and
allowing core participants time to refresh if they choose. We have completed
our third hospital, one combination of mental health and general medical,
one mental health facility and one community hospital, they are all in
Cornwall.
They were all private finance initiative buildings, each with different
construction companies, architects and owners.
This has given us a perspective putting arts projects into P.F.I’s.
We developed an approach which I think produced good projects, only a
very small amount of money failed to produce results.
