A
guide to setting up projects for site-specific art
in new-build and existing healthcare buildings
Convinced
as we are of the virtues of art in health, Artonic associates specialises
in the installation of site specific art, craft and design in healthcare
buildings.
We have undertaken several projects, through which we have developed a
specific approach.
We concentrate on arts for whole buildings, selecting opportunities, defining
commissions and providing a choice of artists, designers and craftspeople.
We try to introduce enough commissions into the building to provide a
diverse and interesting feeling.
The commissions range from artists working in specific medium, for example,
glass, plastic, metal, to craftspeople and designers who may produce,
a light fitting, textile design, landscape or video.
We tend to look amongst new and interesting artists and designers, working
with them to develop an appropriate approach. We try and commission more
than once from the same source to build expertise, some are so good we
commission again and again.
The commission sizes tend to be between £3,000 - £10,000,
avoiding the monumental and trying to inform the building with detail
and a spread of visual richesse.
You can see from this booklet the way in which we incorporate art into
a building, this has become a polished approach, a style, it is our specific
expertise.
