On the secure ward of the hospital there is an outside, supervised exercise area.
The secure metal fence, provided by the P.F.I. partner, whilst contractually adequate, was emotionally insensitive and indescreet, as it was placed by a public footpath and housing estate.

The screen needed a visual barrier that would be difficult to look past, whilst it avoided any ‘prison’ like qualities. The inside of the coloured shapes painted in varying shades of blue, grey. It covers an area of approximately thirty metres and successfully avoids the service users being seen, whilst allowing them to see out.
