Damien Toddler is perhaps the undisputed genius of the 'Brit Art' movement. A late comer to Brit Art he encapsulates its vivid truths in a society where meaning is hard to come by. Described as 'the Byron of the deft* word' he is a man of our times, if man he be. *Academics argue about the exact textual transcription of the figure form ' deft ' here as the evidence is a stained shred of paper found in the back of his father's Mini Cooper. |

In 2006 Damien wanted to give the award to himself 'There is no one better' he is quoted to have said but he was over-ruled by the committee who thought it Narcissistic... Damien said (I think in relationship to a Monte Python sketch)... 'For Narcissus it was infatuation with me it's the real thing, true love'. the comittee was unmoved. As a compromise no award was made in 2006, 'A loss to the art world. It took away a small amount from us all', said Sir Nicholas on behalf of a shocked community. |
