Unmarked bone china from Stoke-on-Trent potteries surplus, decorated using transfers from the Hydrotherapy Pool wall imagery for the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Pure gold has also been applied.
The Hydrotherapy Pool ceramic tile installation was part of the new childrens' hospital public art project (1997 - 2001).
The tiled wall depicts the sea journey of a girl and a boy from the dangers of a storm and finally to safety. The images are accompanied by poetry from Bristol poet Michael Hughes, very sadly deceased.
The pool room can be viewed by taking the publicartonline links from the Links page.
The hospital was opened by HRH the Prince of Wales who was presented with one of the tea sets.
Items illustrated here are representative of those made in the Lustre Pottery studio.
