Thrown & turned sponge glazed Jug.
1988
On a finely hand-thrown and turned surface the boldly sponged, unprocessed color pigments appear apparently careless, with their unpredictable density of colour response, pale and pastel colour when applied. Strongly influenced by 18c creamware. which was often a charming combination of the folk sensibility and the classical aspiration to perfect form.
The handle, unlike the18c jugs, is pulled like a contemporary craft pottery handle incorporating t he whole balance of the english tradition.
20cm. high
