Blue glazed red earthenware bowl

 

A large thrown bowl with decorative tile edging attached with coloured tiling cement.

It has an copper oxide pigment in an a crazed alkaline glaze giving a beautiful azure blue, which is largely the point of the bowl.

The approach is un-mannered and direct, the finish underneath straight from the wheelhead.

The border tiles are from a collection of naturally pigmented glazes.

The bowl is approximately 15 inches across.

Do not use outside or soak for long periods in water.
