The design for hydrotherapy pool wall images was based on a story written by the poet Mike Hughes. The story is generic, it is all stories; the plot is the movement of the characters from a beginning place to an end place. This was represented by a poem made of couplets and placed around the wall in sequence. The characters could be, all of us or just the watcher, it was made this way to contain the youngest and oldest of the pool users, The children don't have names and aren't refered to although they appear in the drawings. They exist as the viewer, they pass by the poems all of which have Bristol subjects. There is a conceit that the wall has been decorated by a crew of multi-talented mice who live in an maze under the window. They can be seen drawing and writing. |
