BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football has announced its updated 2022 schedule following the recent resolution between Conference USA and Marshall, Old Dominion and Southern Miss that allows all three institutions to opt out as conference members at the end of the 2021 academic year. -22.

The Hilltoppers’ non-conference roster will remain the same, with matchups against Austin Peay (August 27), Hawaii (September 3), Indiana (September 17), Troy (October 1) and Auburn (November 19). The Hilltoppers narrowly fell to Big Ten opponent Indiana, 33-31, at home last season and will look to turn the tide when they travel to Bloomington in 2022. SEC Auburn will mark only the third meeting between the schools, with their last game coming back in 2005.
The WKU’s updated conference schedule will still feature four home games and four road games, with those home and away dates remaining the same as previously scheduled. The Hilltoppers’ revised conference slate will now include contests against UAB (Oct. 22) and North Texas (Oct. 29), while their showdown dates with Charlotte (Nov. 5), Rice (Nov. 12) and Florida Atlantic (Nov. 26) have also been adjusted.
Head coach Tyson Helton will be in his fourth year at the helm of the Hilltopper program after going 23-16 in three seasons. WKU moved to one-game bowling in each of Helton’s three seasons on The Hill, with wins in the 2019 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl and the 2021 RoofClaim.Com Boca Raton Bowl.
All match dates are subject to change to accommodate television. Broadcast information for the 2022 season will be released later.
