Karlovy Vary Film Festival unveils its 2021 lineup – Deadline

The official selection for the 55th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) has been announced, with 32 premieres. Scroll down for the full list of titles.

The festival will open with Zatopek, David Ondříček’s feature film about quadruple Olympic gold medalist, runner Emil Zátopek, who is widely regarded as the most popular athlete in Czech Republic history. The film will be premiered on August 20, 2021 in the Grand Hall of the Hôtel Thermal during the opening night gala. Screening is also Boiling point, the drama about a restaurant chef with Stephen Graham.

A retrospective will be held dedicated to the work of The Film Foundation, Martin Scorsese’s non-profit organization founded in 1990 and dedicated to the protection and preservation of the history of cinema, restoring to date more than 900 classic works. the cinema. In total, 10 films will be screened at the festival.

In addition to today’s program announcement, a selection of non-competitive streams, featuring notable films from 2020 and 2021, will be unveiled closer to the event.

For the first time this year, documentaries will be incorporated into the two existing competitions – the Crystal Globe competition and the East of the West competition – both previously reserved for feature films.
