Bombay Theater Company, Mumbai is collaborating with Los Angeles-based writer Julianne Jigour to direct her 15-minute play – “Ride Home” – LIVE on their Instagram page on July 17 at 9:30 p.m. PT. The Indian theater company has been very active in the pandemic and has already staged around 25 virtual plays on Instagram, including a virtual play in New York and one in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England.

After a date with someone he met online, Fred calls his best friend Billy to come home in the middle of the night. Billy takes Fred reluctantly. As they approach the bridge to cross the bay, their friendship is tested when Billy’s resentment collides with Fred’s deepest fear.
The cast includes Julio Hanson and Anthony Rutowicz. The play is directed by Raveesh Jaiswal.
Julianne Jigour is a Los Angeles-based playwright whose work has been produced or developed with PlayGround, Theater Masters, Antaeus Playwrights Lab, Playwrights’ Union, MADLab, and Santa Clara University. Finalist of the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival and two-time recipient of a commission from Planet Earth Arts, Julianne has also received grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for science-themed television pilots.
Raveesh Jaiswal is a stage director and actor based in Mumbai, India. He is also the founder of the Bombay Theater Company and has over 12 years of experience primarily in English theater. He has performed in some 50 plays and directed more than 15 plays, including two virtual theater productions in New York and Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He is known to be the pioneer of virtual theater in India in the midst of the pandemic and to date his theater company has staged around 25 theatrical productions virtually in India as well as overseas.
Anthony Rutowicz is an LA / NY Theater major / actor based in Los Angeles, California. In 2016, he was directed by Steven Berkoff in Eugene O’Neill’s classic ‘The Hairy Ape’ at the Odyssey Theater Ensemble. He was in “The Serpent” at the Odyssey, which had 2 official performances before being cut short due to the global pandemic. Anthony has been a member of the Playground LA Company and has been acting with them for a few years now, including last season, which was all on Zoom.
Julio Hanson (SAG-AFTRA) is an artist and educator in Los Angeles, who has dedicated years to bringing African-American and Panamanian roots closer together through music, theater, dance and languages. Julio has performed with Grammy-recognized artists Toni Braxton, Prince, Kelis and La Ley to name a few. Julio has appeared in numerous feature films, theater productions and on television. Julio is a member of the advisory board of The Young Shakespeareans, commissioned writer of The Robey Theater Company and founder of The Artist Activist Collective.
